I was raised in Southern California by my single mother and my immigrant Guatemalan grandparents. I was introduced to competitive sports in middle school when I joined my first running team. Competitive club sports gave me a way to cope with stress and overcome adversity in my life. Having succeeded in elite long-distance running competitions during my high school years, I was recruited to join the Oregon Sate University (D1) Track and Field team. With perseverance learned through distance running, I became the first person in my family to attend and graduate college. After college I completed an internship at CU Boulder Athletics and passed the certified strength and conditioning specialist exam.
Having experienced sports injuries common to endurance athletes, I sought new directions in outdoor sports and strength based injury prevention. I began pursuing climbing, lifting and functional movement screenings. In March 2018 I underwent a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy. Unable to find much guidance in the recovery process as an athlete, I used my skill set to accelerate my recovery.
My expertise in developmental strength training enables me to work with a diverse range of clients from all over the world. My clientele has included climbers, runners, swimmers, cyclist, hikers and those looking to regain their strength and confidence after mastectomies. My passion is helping clients achieve their nutrition and fitness goals through an individualized training program. I am open to working with anybody who is motivated to achieve success.
